In private lessons, our focus is completely on you and your dog. With ample time for an in-depth assessment of your dog, we’ll help you understand how to read and interpret your dog’s behaviour. You’ll gain lasting insights into the how your dog perceives situations, and with them, an ability to become a team where you are the pack leader.
There are always two students in private lessons: your dog, and you. First, we work with your dog in order to familiarize them with the new learning environment and commands. Then we guide you in doing the same basic routines. It’s subtle work, and so we pace it for absolute success and confidence. Often, we start with basic obedience work. However, soon we may add in ways to fix a particular problem behaviour.
While basic teaching methods and lessons are a proven standard, each private class is a program designed around your specific topics and goals, such as basic obedience training, specialty skills such as tracking. or fixing a problem behaviour. This is typically the fastest and most comprehensive way for you and your dog or puppy to learn.
These lessons are particularly useful if you are having a problem with your dog’s behavior such as people or dog aggression. The trainer has much more time to work directly with your dog to understand their behavior and to demonstrate the correction. In addition, you can consult with the trainer about any and all life situations that are causing problems and plan how to avoid or fix them.
Semi-Private
If you have more than one dog or you wish to come with a friend to train for general obedience and/or specific behaviours, semi-private lessons can be arranged with a curriculum tailored to address your specific training needs. Flexible appointment times.
Half hour private assessment- Great Value:
We also will provide a half hour private assessment of your dog at the centre. This is an excellent and economical way to receive your own personal evaluation and training recommendations.
Class Guidelines
Please email or call for any further information. The lessons are done in the great outdoors when possible; therefore students should dress for weather conditions. If the weather does not permit doing the lessons outside then they will be done inside in the loft of the barn.

We got Rue from GoodHeart Kennel March 2008 because we liked the advise that we had received from Jackie. She was very thorough with her explanations and had extensive knowledge of dogs. She told us about her obedience classes and we wanted to sign up and have Rue take the classes. We knew that we had gotten a really good dog, but we also wanted to have a really good behaved dog. We started her puppy obedience class in May and have continued ever since. We and our dog have learned so much in such little time. Rue is heeling, sitting, goes down, knows up, through, under and is even learning agility. He loves these classes so much and he looks forward to going every Saturday. Just wanted to drop you a quick note of thanks. Your training class was fantastic. I was pretty much at my wits end with Krimmi when we started the class. Maybe it was because of his behaviour that I had a really hard time bonding with him, me who gets attached to every dog. Now he’s “my boy.” 8 weeks ago I would have never thought or believed that he would or could stay in a down stay beside 2 other dogs and not break that stay even when the other dogs were called. Is he perfect? No, he is still crazy and obnoxious at times lol, but we now have the tools to keep working on his obedience. I will highly recommend your training classes and Krimmi and I will be back for level 2 in the fall.
